A review of unmanned aircraft system ground risk models

This review decomposes unmanned-aircraft ground-risk models into sub-models from failure through harm. It is an entry point when asking what “ground risk” in SORA or a national permission actually contains. The included models were not re-implemented one by one.
As regulation moves toward risk, models of the hazards become inputs to the rules. The review compares a large set of ground-risk models by splitting them into pieces such as failure, impact location, exposure, and harm. Its point is that assumptions and uncertainty in those pieces can affect how rules are written.
It is not a risk map of a particular city. It does not claim that the models produce the same casualty probability. Individual ground-risk maps published after 2017 need their own cards.
